1966 Eurovision Song Contest: Review and Re-Rankings

We watched the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest, tallied our scores, and have compiled our master rankings for all 18 songs.

While it may not have been the most memorable contest in history, it did provide us with a few important firsts.  One of them was a particular country winning for the first time, with its performer having made his third consecutive attempt.  (I can spoil it, it’s been almost 60 years – it was Austria and the late, great Udo Jürgens.)

Even though we know Udo was the winner, where did we rank him?  Not to mention, where did we place the other 17 songs in the contest?

  • This was Denmark’s last contest until 1978.

Who Led the Euro Yard Scoreboard Prior to the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest?

So far, our top country as of 1965 has been Italy, with Switzerland right behind them, and the United Kingdom catching up quickly.  It should come as little surprise, based on what would happen the next few years after 1966, that the United Kingdom will eventually overtake the last few countries in its way.  The question you will need to answer in the future is if they stay there (we’re not giving away that information just yet).
