Eesti Laul 2025 Rankings: Song Reviews

Times are getting busy in Eurovision land as another country has dropped its songs, so we present to you the Eesti Laul 2025 rankings.

There will be a total of sixteen contenders at Estonia’s national selection in February.  (A full calendar of entries can be found here.)  15 of those songs were released in December, while the sixteenth will be chosen by public vote in January.  They will all then participate in one winner-take-all grand final.  At least three other finals will occur that evening of Saturday, 15 February.

Anna Sahlene, competing then as Sahlene, represented Estonia as a solo act at Eurovision in 2002.

Below, we give you our top five as well as general notes on the various contenders.  In general, sorry to say, there was no one song that was a knockout.  If you choose to look on the bright side, that might mean an exciting contest where nobody knows who will win.

Eesti Laul 2025 Rankings: Top 5

Remember as always: These are incomplete scores because there is no staging; our full rubric can be seen here.  We have nothing but respect for all of these performers, whether we liked it or have critiques, and we will keep those critiques respectful.

5. “Tule” (Räpina Jack feat. Kaisa Ling)

It was very different and it seemed to be a well-written song.  The vocals were deadpan and flat, which I think was their stylistic choice, but it has to be mentioned.

4. “Love Me Low” (Anna Sahlene)

This was not a bad song, though not new or groundbreaking, either.  I was a huge fan of “Runaway” in 2002; this doesn’t quite have the same pop but she can sing.

3. “REM” (Tuuli Rand)

This song has a good sound to it, which helps.  What might hold it back is that it is operating in the same genre space as a few other songs, so it might have to really go big at Eesti Laul to stand out from the crowd.

2. “Solo Anthem” (Felin)

Yes, this song could have been written 20 years ago, but at least it was fun and unique.

1. “Frozen” (Janek)

Definitely the best vocals I heard out of all 15 songs.  This was decent and I hope he pulls off the singing in February, because it could be a good one.

Eesti Laul 2025 Rankings: Notes on the Other Songs (Alphabetically)

“Armageddon” (Minimal Wind)

The underlying beat of the song was nice, I just wish it were a little more engaging of a piece.

“Espresso Macchiato” (Tommy Cash)

This one isn’t going in the Music Hall of Fame but it’s so silly and unserious that it could actually win Eesti Laul.

“Eyes Don’t Lie” (Johanne Elise)

Vocals were okay, and I respected the use of a VHS player, but I think it needs to go a little bigger to hold peoples’ interest in February.

“Külm” (An-Marlen)

Decent beat but I wanted more from this one.

“The Last to Know” (Elysa)

Not all the vocals landed but it certainly wasn’t bad.

“Ma ei tea sind” (Andrei Zevakin feat. Karita)

I think people are going to find it interesting but I had issues with the vocals, and in general, the vocals were so enhanced in production that I wonder if they can pull it off live.

“Prty Till the End of the World” (Stereo Terror)

I’m getting Gen Z Lordi vibes from this group.  The song was fun and it’s going to get noticed.  Interesting composition but nobody is going to give it points for vocals.

“Psycho” (Gem98)

Have to give him credit for being different.  Not a great composition but at least it was entertaining.  I think this could stage well in February.

“Tomorrow Never Comes” (Ant)

I wanted a lot more out of it.

“Trouble” (Frants Tikerpuu)

I wanted to like it more and I think it had potential.  I don’t think he took it nearly far enough: the performance in the video was a little tentative.
