Eurovision Top 100 All-Time - Number 75 - I evighet Eurovision Top 100 All-Time - Number 75 - I evighet

Eurovision Top 100, #75: I evighet (Norway, 1996)

We are a quarter of the way through the Eurovision Top 100 list, and “I evighet” from Norway in 1996 comes in at number 75.

You may recall how not long ago on this countdown, we noted that Carola, Sweden’s notable winner, is “Eurovision royalty.”  Well, guess what: so is Elisabeth Andreassen, also a former winner, and one of Norway’s finest musical exports.  I promise you will see her again on this list.  Why?  Because like Carola from neighboring Sweden, she is a Eurovision Top 100 Gold-Tier Member: three entries on this list.

It takes a real talent and someone who knows what they are doing to have (what we consider as) three of the best Eurovision songs ever in about 70 years of contests.

What I Liked

This song was beautiful.  The composition was a bit ethereal, and then throw in a very, very good singing voice and you have a hell of a good Eurovision entry.  To my surprise, the pan flute added a lot as well.  She did Norway proud on her home turf.

Other Facts

  • Andreassen is one of only a handful of people to hold the record of most Eurovision appearances (four).  This particular song was her last at Eurovision, and it was the only one which was not a duet.
  • In her four appearances, she never finished outside the top 10.
  • Andreassen no longer competes at Melodi Grand Prix (Norway national selection) or Melodifestivalen (Sweden), but she appeared at MGP as recently as 2015.
  • She performed 12th out of 23 countries in the 1996 grand final.
  • Despite coming in second place, Norway did not receive any douze points.
