Hello to Carola, another gold-tier member of the Eurovision Top 100 list. Number 81 on the countdown is “Invincible” from 2006.
Around here, we refer to her as “Queen Carola,” by the way. She is a legend and one of the best to ever do it at the Eurovision Song Contest. Carola went to Eurovision three times, in three different decades, and did well three times. Chronologically, “Invincible” was her last appearance.

What I Liked
Queen Carola was, as always, radiant. Her giant cape was a lovely effect as well.
However, the star of the show was, as one might expect, her singing. She is a great performer and she’s got one hell of a set of pipes. Carola slayed the vocals, as is tradition.
We knew this all back in 1983, and in 1991, and she demonstrated it again here. Technically speaking, this was her weakest Eurovision entry and it was still very, very good.
Other Facts
- As mentioned, this was the third and final of Carola’s Eurovision appearances. Her first was in 1983 and her second was a victory in 1991. This wrapped up a 23-year Eurovision career, and she finished in the top five in all of her appearances.
- The songwriter, Thomas Gustafsson, also known as Thomas G:son, has contributed to writing numerous Eurovision entries. Several have been for his native Sweden, but his work has appeared for numerous countries at the contest.
- The 2006 contest featured a former winner (Carola), a current winner (Lordi), and a future winner (Dima Bilan).
- Sweden did not receive any douze points for this performance, but she received points from all but a few countries.
- Carola performed 22nd in the grand final.
