The European Broadcasting Union and Eurovision Song Contest have announced the 2024 Eurovision semifinal running order.
For the first time, all 37 songs will be performed in the semifinals. The “Big Five” countries – France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom – as well as host country Sweden have drawn spots for their performances. However, while they will appear in the Tuesday and Thursday opening round, they are not competing: all six countries are still going to the Saturday grand final, and you cannot vote for them until then (even if you would like to do so).
First, a look at the running order we can expect, and then, the hot takes. A more detailed look at the songs can be found here.

And Now, The Reactions
- ICELAND: Hera going after Croatia is a brutal draw. Who would want to go after Croatia, anyway, but it’s going to make a tall order even taller for her.
- CYPRUS: Nobody seems surprised that this energetic song is opening the show.
- IRELAND: Thank you for not making Bambie go first; I look forward to seeing them in fourth and I’m very curious about how this will be staged. Staging will make or break the song.
- FINLAND: Going towards the end will help seal it peoples’ memories, though I expect this to get through the semifinal, anyway.
- AUSTRALIA: Almost at the end of a semifinal again, and quite curious about how it’s staged. The consensus is that this song is on the borderline, but a good show in this position might be a huge help.
- LATVIA: Another tough draw, having to go after a high-energy performance by Armenia, then followed by an interesting Spanish song. I’d worry that it gets lost in this spot.
- BELGIUM, NORWAY, NETHERLANDS: A few heavy-hitters to close out the second semi, with possible winner Italy in between. Thursday will have a great finish. The Netherlands might win this semifinal from last position and I am expecting a wild performance.
